**UPDATE:** **🚨** The invoice turned out to be **fake / scam**. **🚨** Below is now for awareness. See below for more info: [https://www.reddit.com/r/dubai/comments/1stswka/psa\_for\_uae\_business\_owners\_fake\_renewal\_emails/](https://www.reddit.com/r/dubai/comments/1stswka/psa_for_uae_business_owners_fake_renewal_emails/) Hi, In October last year, I set up a freezone company with Meydan. This was done through Virtuzone. Honestly, I don't have any actual business management experience and while I know roughly what kind of business I will be doing, I am still in the process of learning it and trying to figure out exactly what to offer, how to sell it and whether it will even work. So while I am trying, I haven’t actually done any activity with the company and it mainly exists for the visa. The license is due for renewal at the end of September, but a couple of days ago I received an invoice from Meydan directly (which is curious as Virtuzone had not mentioned anything about it so far) - about 16k AED / $4,500 USD for license renewal, visa allocation, immigration card, co-working shared desk plus innovation and knowledge fees. I can see that's somewhat lower than what other people here have had with them and it's half of what I initially paid to get my residency here, but I'm not 100% sure. But the main question I have right now - the invoice due date says "Upon Receipt", the expiry isn't until the end of September so do I actually have to pay the invoice right now, 3.5 months in advance? To be honest, I am not in the best position to pay it right now and I would much prefer to wait at least until August to see if I have any income by then, but I don't know when or if they would apply late fees or anything like that before the license actually expires. Additionally, will this renew my visa itself or is that a separate cost to be taken up with immigration? (I have been told it is around 1-2k for a renewal which is annual although my visa is 2 years). Can anyone advise please? Much appreciated.

Are you using a set up business like creativezone or virtuzone? If so, those are good rates for them. I paid 22k first year then 18k there after. If you want even cheaper, do it yourself it’s not too difficult.

Okay I’ve been going down this rabbit hole for like a few days now and I’m honestly confused. Everywhere online says business setup in Dubai is super easy now and you can basically start a company in like a few days in the UAE, especially in free zones. But then I actually start reading more and suddenly it’s like… licenses, visas, approvals, jurisdiction choices, activity codes, bank stuff, and I’m just sitting here like how is this “simple”? I even ended up checking a few business setup Dubai sites (Decisive Zone, Shuraa, Virtuzone, and a couple others I randomly found) just to understand what people actually do, and it honestly feels like everyone just uses consultants and skips the whole “easy process” part. So now I’m just confused. Is company formation in UAE actually straightforward and I’m just overthinking it? Or is it one of those things that looks easy online but is actually complicated unless you’ve done it before or have help? If anyone here has actually gone through business setup UAE, how was it for you in real life? Like was it actually smooth or did it turn into a whole process?
