It’s hard to tell from a photo, but it looks like the metal is just oxidized. I have seen lamps like these in the past. These are in remarkable condition. Perhaps a site like Ruby Lane may help?

local estate jewelry shops sometimes have one-of-a-kind pieces matching vintage styles you can't find online. Ruby Lane has a searchable catalog of pre-owned rings too. if you're near Albuquerque, John Thomas Jewelers stocks reconditioned estate pieces.

Yes I looked through the Juliana database and didn't see anything with that same style of mold that the molded glass navettes on this have. However, I think you may be exactly right with guessing Weiss! I was able to track down a few necklaces that do have the exact same mold on some navettes: [Example 1](https://www.ebay.com/itm/126212982904?_skw=vintage+molded+glass+necklace+rhinestone&itmmeta=01KRPA7KR0654W5VQNNE2HJKQF&hash=item1d62e14878:g:Pq4AAOSwiFxlZ93g&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAABAGfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xBaaep6K265pIlXUiqqC1y7MSx%2Bc4yOMOkgYIBc25pwVhE3RCesbkwxbIwVXWx6Fnow3g8M5KzMW8awVsIEKJL7ctkcIstRG77TotdbVJbF9oEo3cSacEGNsPK6wFMIFYpe6qO0RwOjnC82GorjzuJENRWHQI9xxbS8w94lcu%2ByS1YYYhWVlUa5Ly%2FyTU%2FIOFShFSX5KwqHI%2BdNNrFxuCX7zbZx6ktwUfKbtCqMZaTqNil%2F5TeBCeMnHWkqThaa9hrDFOEp9MxmUcMYZLwvTQW9mTu5u1t6cGddZnew79bs%2BFb2j3LNmUxhLfZvIc8UPh8%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMtryeysVn) [Example 2](https://www.ebay.com/itm/317960451373?_skw=vintage+molded+glass+necklace+rhinestone&itmmeta=01KRP9S2SKBWYTV3QPQA01XMAJ&hash=item4a07eb752d:g:94IAAeSwy85pqj6d&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA8GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xBhUxr%2Fta8dxe3wuKlG4YVaE%2FrM1wvltMOGkTg6OEbYCl2atKK%2FyA60dem5Fjo9Ga%2BkoargrvEpu2%2FpbXUtgfjxFpbC0k--rUZvlZsPo%2FU%2BQ8QbtijJEHUFyDMSPoekqK5hRYOhBqmxw%2BEQdi1z%2ByoBc4iaBu301oFymrTBKS2h4qfcyRgmICDmW9vKXwVxsOwZ7LHE6YTn0Fh5GoM3wkpx4jOQC6QfTGFUNJmPKtJcpzK1tXi9KP%2FNpFP8XZkvNoG%2FFBTLpgEC3Ll8bGpiaUQckvhRD3IPqsgU9me0WH7tig%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8qt5MnFZw) [Example 3](https://www.ebay.com/itm/197706727011?_skw=vintahe+molded+glass+necklace+rhinestone&itmmeta=01KRPAEPRG0C968BZJ5EN66DC2&hash=item2e083d3e63:g:iNoAAeSwqTZoy4br&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAABEGfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xBMlge31JnPlRaCexk7ftYkvKNEYIXGOI8JASrJi%2FtyO7pvKjMBxNo7g8PBYamB9vMc1aXB0lmApSPB2%2BrhuHvJmKjElPJDX%2Fd%2F6mwsl%2B5u0nPK1eLXMbjnkd9q1oqtaUVaSD3js5gUN8eiW%2FJ%2B26%2FwBh2aSFcRYBJYDt1OLkHwu41uzZDvHAiy6V3RaMwxIQ1JS5DG9LRCK1QbOPQDGhLzSF%2FZWcRC0r1gJNQ9r6IcqiRTKzDPY6KvUHUxXFle1DIQVjih%2B8NcoZc%2F5Xi7i4TQqHvVQMtyseuoj4OJufM72Yfegsj4p7eo5g%2BX2SJOKP5SiryFojn7b7dT0nDSpan%2F%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8zuusrFZw) All unsigned, so no direct identification help on those. Thank you for your help! Your suggestion sent me on a fun dig!

From what's visible of the marks it looks like it's probably made in Europe. Possibly England. It looks gold, but probably lower carat like 9 or 10 carat. The lower carat means it doesn't have as much of that gold color and it can actually get a little tarnish because of the alloys in it, but it will also be stronger than higher carat gold. It doesn't look like silver to me. Try rubbing it with a silver polishing cloth. It might shine up substantially and look more gold with tarnish removed. I agree with other comments that say the stone looks like a garnet. It's definitely a stereotypical "garnet" color when most people think of a garnet. It's probably from the 1920s or 1930s at the latest. If the marks inside *are* European you will be able to tell when it was made by the symbols used. They used specific icons to note different time periods. The other reason I believe it's from that timeframe is due to the style. It looks like it's from a period that is transitional between art deco and the more mid century men's ring styles. Please post pictures of the marks inside when you're able. That could help identify metal purity, timeframe it was made, and possibly the location and maker of the ring. Regardless, I hope this helps. Edit: #LOL Just did a reverse Google image search. [I swear I didn't see this until after I typed up my comment.](https://www.rubylane.com/item/1099233-SRL10969/9-Kt-Gold-Garnet-Dress-Ring) I don't know how reliable Ruby Lane is on pricing, but here is info on what appears to be the same ring as yours.

I wouldn't allow it as a spurt of the moment thing. An arm simply doesn't cover enough of the head. Now, I think /u/Datafortress2020 has a point (though I'd say it's more like 33%, like 3 and under). However, I don't play with percentage-based coverage anymore. It's fiddly and it's simply too easy to hit in Cyberpunk ("if a helmet only has 50% chance of fending off a shot the face, can I aim specifically for the face, not just the head?" then of course: "Oh, he as a faceplate but his eyes are exposed? I aim for the eyes.") Even stacking "aimed shot at a body part" (-4) and "tiny target" (-6), which I'm pretty sure aren't supposed to stack, even at a -10 it's not hard for PCs to successfully make a called shot to the eyes or face once you start factoring in the Nikon COTs for a +3, +1 for Low Impedance Cables, +1 from a target scope cyberoptic option, then you hunt down some weapon with a +1 or +2 accuracy, Speeding Bullet Legs, and the Dodgeball Cheese^1 . So I got rid of those 'Partial Protection' rolls for armor. A helmet just protects your entire head. A cowl just protects your entire head. I lowered the SP a bit to "average" it out, but no more rolling. Now, I've had a player who had a Techie modify the cyberarm pillow option (Chromebook 3, pp26) to be bulletproof. Yes, we had just seen the Final Fantasy Spirits Within movie with the part where the protags jump out of some aircraft and it creates like some sort of gel for them for them to land in. Discussing (how bad) the movie was afterwards, I pointed out that stuff like that did exist - aerogels. In a subsequent game, I had ESWAT create rapid crash barriers on a road using that kind of technology. A PC banged heads with a Techie and wanted the cyberarm pillow to balloon out hugely and stop bullets basically by friction (eg; it's thick and the bullet just bleeds its velocity off traveling through the stuff) and he could use it as a shield. Some adventures to steal some advanced aerogel material from the manufacturer, he had an aerogel pillow that works similarly to an automobile airbag. It provided something like an ablative SP20 (I forget precisely, it's been a long time) of protection. Each aerogel bag only works once and only for one round (3 seconds) but up to three charges could be stored in the modified cyberarm pillow feature. So I would let people shield their head using something like that. Or you could just open up an Arasaka Jetsetter briefcase and wear it over your head like an [amigasa](https://cdn0.rubylane.com/_podl/item/725602/1296-072917/2-Vintage-straw-hats-amigasa-Tokushima-pic-4o-720:15.15-efbf1f8a.webp). ---- ^1 I guess I should explain what the Dodgeball Cheese is. There's another half of this Gun Jousting thing, though it came later. It's the Dodgeball Cheese. It's based on the nearly useless Dodgeball item from Chromebook 1 (pp31). During university one of my players was a graduate student in cybernetics, studying kinetics doing studies on how to make robots be able balance. He observed if the technology existed to help people dodge melee attacks by watching their movements, it should be trivial for a neuralware processor connected to cyberarms or a linear frame to cancel the the movement penalty for running and shooting - things like tanks and warships already have corrective mechanisms to hold guns steady while moving, and if dodgeball exists _motion prediction_ can obviously be made small enough to fit in a cyberoptic. It'd be trivial to compensate for the movement of the body as it would have so much more information, letting the neuralware processor hold your cyberarms or linear frame to compensate for your own running. I couldn't argue with it, though I made him team up with some techies to develop it. Stuff got really loony with how easy it was to hit. I solved the issue by not mentioning this technology in later games with different players.

No clue. Most of the jewelry groups I'm in on social media don't give values and I'm not an expert in NA jewelry. It would depend on knowing the provenance and identifying the individual artisan if you can -- some smiths' signatures are worth more than others. If you're looking to insure them, get a professional appraisal from an antique dealer who's familiar with NA jewelry -- do NOT go to a regular jewelry store because most don't know jack about anything that isn't commercially manufactured and they'll probably tell you they're only worth materials value. (Also don't overlook stamp & coin dealers; many do a sideline in vintage/antique jewelry and know a fair bit.) If you're looking to resell, do your own work finding comps (get a spread from eBay, Etsy, Ruby Lane, and independent sellers).

18k gold, probably is vintage ('60s-'90s would be my guess, this religious iconography has been popular forever and remains so) It's cast not carved, likely mass produced and worth just a bit over melt value. It’s possible that the brooch on Ruby Lane had the whole pin mechanism replaced, and that’s why it looks different. That mechanism, where the latch and the hinge are linked together is not one you would expect to be original on a silver pin. The latch and hinge on your pin is what could be expected on an art nouveau pin.

This is a Carl Tielsch Silesia milk jug or creamer. Although the company did do some Art Deco pieces, like you, I wasn’t able to find anything close to this particular geometric design. My guess is that it may have been purchased as whiteware from Carl Tielsch then hand painted by either a small studio or a talented hobbyist. Here is a syrup pitcher in the same form as your little jug: https://www.rubylane.com/item/369468-O-0283/Carl-Tielsch-CT-Altwasser-Silesia-Black I believe that this Ruby Lane piece also started life as a blank white piece which was subsequently hand-painted (but with a very different design!) I very much like your creamer and think that it would definitely sell. If you bought it 20 years ago on eBay, however, it’s likely worth somewhat less than what you paid back then because items like this have mostly depreciated in value over the past couple decades. Browse through eBay sold listings for Carl Tielsch items and you can get an idea of what recent sales have brought.

Yes - in particular it will absolutely grow the collectibles market for the better. I absolutely love eBay but feel like its also not living up to its full potential. In part because of its marketing, as the letter states. And this is a very hard problem to get over when your brand is synonymous with a single thing - selling in auction-like format for everything. There have been numerous companies/apps that have spun up to grab part of this market (whatnot, depop, poshmark, vinted, grailed, reverb, ruby lane to some degree) that eBay has not been able to grab - even though the sellers themselves often cross-list across all platforms. It would be neat to see how physical locations could be done right, but this has been notoriously hard for other companies. If they focus on the collectables first, then I could see it happening and growing.

You actually might be able to find a used hard plastic walker body for her on eBay or Ruby Lane. They were very common in the 50s. One of my friends is an artist who turns the 80s and 90s mass produced porcelain dolls into artwork, but she avoids altering the true vintage and antique dolls. I can appreciate your desire to get creative, but it might be worth poking around a bit more to see if you can restore her.

Its important to know it's worth what you were willing to pay for it. Maybe this could have been $250, but you were okay with the price because you really like the piece, and thats important.  Makers' time is worth money, not just the metal and stones. You're paying for the design, the time, the stones, the metal, etc. Most makers aren't making "bank" off of their wears, unless they build up a fan base for their jewelry. They're simply "getting by" on their craft and setting prices to maintain it.  To you, the piece is worth it. I've sat on many purchases on Etsy and Ruby Lane deciding if what was posted is what I was willing to pay and about 15% of the time I will make the purchase.

I’ve also used eBay for years and only recently had any trouble with them. Another eBay seller I know battled with them recently after someone returned an article of designer clothing they purchased, but with a layer of cat hair included. The seller agreed to the refund less the price of dry cleaning. eBay forced them to refund the entire amount for a cat hair-covered item. To keep the buyer happy. We are people, not Amazon! I’ve also used Etsy for years, and haven’t had any issue there. The jewelry shoppers on Etsy are also looking for higher-end stuff in general. Ruby Lane is another one where high-end jewelry does well. I know people who use it, but I have not tried it myself. eBay seller, I wasn’t trying to offend you! Hope I didn’t! Good luck selling your ring, OP! 😊

yeah, vintage prices can be wildly inflated. Doll wardrobes are just cabinets made for dolls' clothes! They're weirdly perfect. You just have to check the sizing to make sure it's not a doll house miniature, but something made for like an American Girl Doll. [Here's one](https://www.rubylane.com/item/719320-A-543/19%22-Vintage-Large-Wooden-Doll-Glass) that's way too expensive but gorgeous. Here's [one](https://www.ebay.com/itm/285551898758) on ebay that could probably use some cleaning but I think is cute. Shipping could be expensive depending on where you are, but I think it's funny there's so many of them and I don't think it occurs to people to market them as anything but doll furniture even though they're essentially just cabinets.

For anyone searching for replacement tea cups & saucers from this era, sites like Replacements Ltd, eBay and even Etsy tend to have solid stock occasionally, you will spot similar patterns across Amazon, Alibaba and Ruby Lane too depending on the maker. Really glad OP found hers already though. The pattern looks like it could be English bone china from the 1940s-50s range, that scattered rose style was incredibly popular for export to the US market.

[Found it](https://www.rubylane.com/item/171376-6044/2001-Ty-Beanie-Buddies-Collection-Pinchers) Edit: it's a picture from the internet. It's possible the poster poster just found an image online of the same one they had. It's also possible they made up the story for giggles. As a parent... it's also possible even if it's a real story, their parents just told them they've had it since they were a baby, but it was actually replaced multiple times after they threw up on it, dropped it out of a stroller, etc.

I might be wrong, but looks like Steuben with the black handles. Steuben is high dollar. Great score! I found an ivory pitcher with a black handle for 8 bucks at an estate sale, and saw the same one on an auction site selling for 395, and Ruby Lane had the whole set, pitcher with 8 matching glasses going for 675. 17.99 for a 3 piece is wild! Congrats!

Everyone seems to be leaving Ruby Lane. They hardly have any sellers left, only little over one thousand. And many of those are not really active sellers. If you check the Shop Directory, many shops are there in name only and haven't sold anything in years. They may have been on RL for many years yet only have very little feedback and none recent. RL has been steadily losing sellers since their unfair price hike for only certain sellers instituted in May 2024.

Reverse image search turns up a number of similar rings, some vintage some modern. Seems like what you are looking for is a Victorian buttercup ring (edit: also called a belcher setting, you get a lot more results looking for this), though the one in the picture is particularly low profile and smooth. Though I can't personally speak to the veracity of any of the sellers, I have seen people on this sub recommend Ruby Lane, Erstwhile, and Pebble and Polish. It's certainly not from the original cast, but as u/Active_Space_2728 has addressed, it's a reproduction. This went through Sotheby's so was well appraised-note the difference in signature, together with the stamp of the French foundry which yours does not have, also little details such as the tip of the tail, & general features of the bronze. Yours appears lacquered metal, not bronze. And lastly, check out this article from ruby lane on bronze sculptures, https://www.realorrepro.com/article/A-closer-look-at-bronze-scuIpture

Maybe tuscan? neoclassical? The cane looks to be in good condition.

How vintage and what kind of alternative? The 19th century has lots of mourning jewelry/memento mori with goth iconography, as well as human hair jewelry, etc... and the mid century has tons of fun and quirky novelty jewelry in just about any style you could imagine. Brands like Schiaparelli had lots of high end, weird jewelry but will cost an arm and a leg. I'd say your best bet is to look for jewelry that fits whatever "theme" you're interested in, rather than focusing on a specific maker. If you like snakes, or daggers, or clowns, or whatever, there should be a plethora of costume pieces available online (check eBay, etsy, ruby lane, etc..) to satisfy your bauble desires!

I know Ruby Lane is pretty niche, but I've been selling on there for a long time and have stuck it out despite sales being weak, but some recent changes are making me wonder if it's really worth it at all now. They have changed the international shipping options to just one line. So you can now only have one international shipping price no matter where you are sending the item. We are in the UK and shipping costs varies dramatically with the destination country. I asked them about the changes and the reply made me think they are perhaps trying to jettison non US sellers. They suggested leaving shipping as 'to be determined' so the buyer wouldn't know the shipping price until after they ordered the item - that's a level of sales friction which would stop nearly all purchases. The other option is to list all items with the highest shipping cost and then refund the difference back to buyers if the shipping cost is lower. To make things worse they have updated all my listings to this new system and unticked shipping availability to UK and Europe, so unless I edit them all 1 by 1 my items currently say we can't even ship in my home market. Is there anyone else still using RL, any thoughts on how to navigate this?

Google is your friend. Search for "comps" -- other people selling the same earrings -- and get a spread of values. I always tell people to at least check eBay (tends to run low), Ruby Lane (runs high), Etsy, Poshmark, and at least one independent seller. Then find your own sweet spot somewhere within that range. You *definitely* won't get top dollar for a piece with visible damage, especially something that's relatively recent. When buying vintage costume jewelry for resale, the three most important things are condition, condition and condition.

Unfortunately, the user who originally posted this doll has deleted their account. I promised them that I would send them the link to this post if I used their pictures, but I can’t do that now. They said they found this doll at a Salvation Army. I strongly suspect that it may be one of a kind, or at least not mass produced and I’m slowly losing hope here. I’ve done an image search, I’ve asked ChatGPT, I asked the original poster if there is a makers label on it and they said no. I’ve searched Google, Mercari, Vinted, Ruby Lane , Depop, Poshmark, and eBay for realistic, life-size boy dolls (including sweater and description of features and approximate age). I’ve got nothing. I would be OK with a different doll entirely if the make of it is similar to this one (it’s the realism and expression that got me), but I’m having no luck. I would really prefer to find this exact doll as the facial expression is so well done, but I’m also being realistic. 🥲

You could try vintage jewelry because secondhand gold will cost less. Ruby Lane is a big website with hundreds of vendors. Gold chains sell quickly so if you see what you want, don't wait. I personally wouldn't wear a chain less than 1.5mm. Chains that are 1mm or thinner are very fragile.

There are many places to look for antique dolls. It depends on your budget and the kind of dolls you are looking for where to look. Ebay is a great place to find affordable or more expensive antique dolls. On RubyLane you will also find a large variety of antique dolls for sale. You could also look at Facebook marketplace. Recognizing antique dolls is something that you need to learn. At first it can be hard, but by reading books about antique dolls and looking at pictures of antique dolls (for example look at them on the Theriaults website), you will soon be able to distinguish antique from modern/repro. I recommend also to search for reproduction antique dolls on Ebay, so you can compare them to the real antiques. As for what they should cost, it can vary hugely. Some dolls cost less than $100, others are multiple ten thousands with one of the most expensive antique dolls ever selling for $400.000 at Theriaults. But overall the German dolls such as those by Armand Marseille or Schoeneau & Hoffmeister are the cheapest and usually cost no more than $100.

My doll is currently wearing a dress that i made a while go for another doll, but I will make her one next month once I'm done with school. Comparing clothes will be helpful to know what kind of dress I should make for her
comment r/Antiquedollcollecting u/culiejoleman1 2026-04-02
The body is a very nice replacement. The original body would've been all leather. The lower arms would have been shorter. The ones on your doll appear to be too long. So the arms have been replaced. Over 100 years, leather becomes brittle and falls apart and is just not worth fixing. I'm all for decent cloth bodies now. I think cloth holds up more over time than leather. You can repair cloth when it tears, but when leather tears its like a nightmare trying to fix it. This is why I will never have leather seats in a car. I'm restoring an 15 inch antique belton lady doll now and I thought the leather body was in good shape but it wasn't - it was complete junk! I replaced it with a cloth one. BTW, your doll is rare and gorgeous. I would go to [rubylane.com](http://rubylane.com) to get ideas on how to dress her. The link below shows a SH 905 in antique clothing. Buyers fled the site, it had to be hastily rolled back and my sales never recovered. I left 2 years later. Only a platform the size of EBay has the clout to pull this off but once they do, others will follow I’m sure

Ruby Lane (another online antiques marketplace based here in the USA) tried this and the metrics were swift and punishing. They had to scrap the whole thing less than 6 months later. However-this WAS about 8 years ago. I’m a seller and a buyer. As a buyer I’m used to paying auction premiums BECAUSE I’m also a seller and I’m buying for my business but the general public isn’t used to it. Keep us posted how this actually works out!

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing—the price spread across sellers from Etsy, to ebay, to online auctions, Ruby Lane, etc... such a huge range even for pieces that look very similar. A lot of it is doing the research on what you want to buy (ChatGPT is really helpful for that), and looking across various websites. I'm happy to send you the seller's info if you like -- she had a similar ring when I last checked a couple months ago. But I found her pieces to generally be reasonable. And that's key as well, once you find a seller who is reasonable and/or will work with you on the price, it's worth following them.

I’m wondering if it could be a latch or handle of some kind for a «tine» or other type of container? Maybe leather or twine was woven through the holes to keep it locked https://www.rubylane.com/item/280675-AntTB-1645/Early-Chip-Carved-Scandinavian-Tine

The one Polly has seems big for her and am not sure it has her hands as they are large also. I love a mystery!

You need to show it to someone who is an expert in vintage/antique *costume* jewelry. Some appraisers (especially the ones who work for insurance companies) give short shrift to anything that doesn't have karat gold, platinum, or precious gemstones. Carnelian and other semiprecious stones, lower-purity silver, pieces whose value is in the workmanship and design rather than the materials, don't blip their radar. Find a local antique dealer who handles costume jewelry, especially from estates. This necklace looks really cool and definitely old. Maybe it doesn't have the kind of "value" your appraiser was thinking of, but that doesn't mean it's *worthless*. Take a look yourself. Check out similar pieces online; try Etsy or Ruby Lane. There are Facebook groups like the Vintage Jewelry Identification Collective (they *will not* value it for you -- don't even try asking! -- but they can help a lot with ID).

Been reselling casually for about three years, mostly electronics and sneakers, the usual stuff everyone starts with. Margins got thin, competition got annoying, and I started looking for something less picked over. Landed on vintage headwear almost by accident. Picked up a box of mixed caps and hats at an estate sale in Hamilton for CA$15 last spring, mostly to flip individually. One of them was a deadstock Kangol wool bucket from the late 80s with the original tag still attached. Listed it on eBay for CA$45 expecting to wait. Sold in four hours to a buyer in Tokyo. That one sale changed how I looked at the whole category. Spent the next two months learning the market properly. Vintage New Era fitted, deadstock Stetsons, military surplus covers, and a whole section of Fedora Hats from the 40s and 50s that move surprisingly well to costume and theatre buyers if the condition is right. Sourcing at scale is where it gets complicated. Estate sales and flea markets work but the volume is inconsistent. Started supplementing through Etsy wholesale lots, eBay bulk listings, and Ruby Lane trade sellers for the vintage side. Alibaba has been surprisingly useful for finding international sellers offloading old stock that never surfaces on Western platforms, usually mixed lots where one or two pieces justify the whole order. The Tokyo buyer messaged me last month asking if I had more Kangol pieces. What niche did you stumble into that turned out to have more demand than you expected?

Start by separating "fine" (precious metals and gemstones) from "costume" (everything else). Silver jewelry will be marked either STERLING (if it's old enough) or 925; gold will have a karat mark. Some (mostly European-made) will have actual hallmarks; those can be looked up. Costume jewelry is what I know most about. Stones are set differently from the way they are in fine jewelry; either glued in or with prongs that aren't like the prongs on precious gemstones. A lot of costume jewelry will have makers' signatures, [https://www.costumejewelrycollectors.com/vintage-costume-jewelry-research/import/researching-costume-jewelry-history-jewelry-marks-fashion-jewelry-vintage-jewelry-research-jewelry-signatures/](https://www.costumejewelrycollectors.com/vintage-costume-jewelry-research/import/researching-costume-jewelry-history-jewelry-marks-fashion-jewelry-vintage-jewelry-research-jewelry-signatures/) is a good place to look them up - some brands are very highly collectible. You can often get an approximate era by looking at the way the piece fastens; brooch hinges and catches and necklace clasps are a good thing to look at. Look at similar pieces on Ruby Lane or Etsy to get an idea of what things sell for. I'd be wary of going to professional appraisers for costume pieces. Some are focused on "fine" items and will dismiss all costume jewelry as junk (even if the market shows otherwise!) -- you'd need an appraiser who knows the vintage *costume* jewelry market. If you don't want to sell them yourself, you might consider a dealer who'd take the costume pieces on consignment or an auction house that handles costume jewelry. As for the keep/sell/insure question; simple answer. For each piece, if *you* like and would wear it, or if it has sentimental value or is an heirloom from an earlier generation, keep it. If you're keeping it and it's valuable, insure it. If you'd never be caught dead wearing it and it's good quality, sell it. If it's low-value (as in you probably won't make your fees back) or damaged, bag it up and donate it to a local charity thrift shop - crafters scrounge those shops for things they might be able to use or harvest for parts.

Beautiful doll! She needs a new body. That body looks like someone made it to save money. I do that with lower level dolls. A reproduction french doll body may be best alternative for her. Try [shopgoodwill.com](http://shopgoodwill.com) or Ebay. Ruby Lane doesn't have much by way of bodies right now. If you go to [shopgoodwill.com](http://shopgoodwill.com) try putting in search words like doll head or doll parts or doll body because you may be able to someone's project doll with a nice reproduction body you can use for your doll. That's what I do. I googled your doll and it appears she may be 20 inches tall. You would want a 15 inch doll body.

ResaleOS does that. It gives you reports on inventory and sales from all the platforms that they support. You can customize them and download in multiple formats. I did not see amazon in there, but I am pretty sure that if you ask them they are going to add it very quickly. I had asked them to support RubyLane which they did not have and they added it 2 days later. Check it out, their team is awesome.

Google is your friend. Since it has a "patent pending" stamp, look on [https://www.jewelrypatents.com/](https://www.jewelrypatents.com/) under Trifari patents -- the site lists all the design patents that were actually *granted*. I'm assuming this is indeed for a *design* patent and not a utility one (they have separate numbering systems) and there's simply no room for the "des" part of the stamp here. Of course, it's possible the patent wasn't granted -- patent has a fairly high bar for originality and it isn't uncommon for design patents to be denied. Didn't really make any difference because by the time the patent office made its decision the piece would be out of production anyway. Alfred Philippe was Trifari's head designer from 1930 to his retirement in IIRC 1968, so everything Trifari made during those years was done under his supervision. That does *not* mean he personally designed everything even though it's his name on the patent. Assuming this was a design patent, the piece was made before 1955. That was when a change in intellectual-property law made *copyright* an easier way to protect a company's designs than the slow and expensive design patent process. I'd say late 1940s/early 50s because of the baguette stones. As for value, again Google is your friend. Get a spread: eBay, Etsy, Ruby Lane, Poshmark, independent sellers. Remember that missing, dull or dead stones will lower the value if you're going to sell it as-is. Or you could simply replace the stones (I'd do all the baguettes and look *very* carefully at the other stones). You need a digital caliper, GS Hypo Cement and stones of the correct size: Etsy sellers, Mr. Stones, and Pretty Snazzy are good sources.

Look on eBay or other for-sale places for sealed vintage playing cards. Congress is the best quality by US Playing Cards and has plenty of variety for artwork, Piatnik is one of my favorites, and there are plenty of other quality makers, some still in business, some long gone. You can usually find decent grade sealed decks for $5-$15, especially if you don't mind the slightly narrower bridge size. Take a look at this seller's pages on RubyLane for some idea of what I'm talking about: https://www.rubylane.com/ni/shop/twoforhisheels?sort=pricelow&page=2 Midcentury theme building at the LA International airport (all of these examples are sealed decks): https://www.rubylane.com/item/404269-T00006527/Double-Deck-USPC-%E2%80%9CLAX-Theme-Building%E2%80%9D?search=1 Andy Warhol: https://www.rubylane.com/item/404269-T00007667/Andy-Warhol-Foundation-for-Visual-Arts?search=1 Piatnik "Folklore": https://www.rubylane.com/item/404269-T00007057/Double-Deck-Piatnik-%E2%80%9CFolklore%E2%80%9D-Playing-Cards?search=1 There are thousands and thousands of interesting decks out there...

I’m just tired and it’s early, but I figured you deserved a reply. The Flonzgift cards look nice and expensive (for new decks; no telling what vintage decks go for). I have their pinup deck. Then I noticed a lot of necklaces coming out with a similar design, and took a closer look at it. It's about 5.1-5.5g of 18k gold, designed by Aldo Cipullo, I'm assuming right after his Cartier years. I haven't seen another original except for that one listing. Is this pretty rare?

Some of the repro dolls were made using molds meant to look like specific dolls by specific makers (in some cases, these molds were bought from old factories), but I don't think that is the case with this doll. For want of a better word, this seems like a generic Victorian-style doll made with a modern mold for the mass market. Likely sold as a home decor item. There's no antique 'original' version of this specific doll. If you were asking whether anyone owns an original china head doll, yes many people do. I have three from the 1860s. They were made for such a long time and so many were sold that there are still lots of them around today. Ruby Lane is a good place to check out dolls.

I used to resell antiques and collectibles for 10-15 years and sounds like my inventory was similar to yours, with more jewelry probably. eBay was our primary outlet, along with listings on sites like Ruby Lane and Trocadero. We (ex-wife and I) started to look for other outlets and tried the biggest local antique mall and it was a game changer for us. Started in a 10x8 space, and after a couple years we had a 10x15 at a good corner near the back, a tall locked case in the middle aisle, and a jewelry case right near the front door. Our sales out of the mall would sometimes rival those on eBay, and we found it an excellent place to put bigger items we found cheaply at auctions and estate sales that we knew would be great to sale but would be awful to ship. The time it took to stock and maintain the mall spaces was surprisingly little, and when we were there we'd meet other dealers and they were a market (and a source) in themselves. So yeah, definitely recommend finding a good mall and trying it out!! Pays to visit them a few times each before pulling the trigger on a certain one. My brother and I shared a booth for a few years in a different mall, but it's market and style suited our stuff better than the other, another ex and I had a small booth in yet another mall that simply had higher traffic but smaller $ per piece..... Good staff is almost more important than traffic or location, helps avoid shrinkage/loss and sometimes they'll call if they find something they know you'll want, or they'll help negotiate offers before contacting you.

Styrofoam sheeting to line boxes, bubble wrap, peanuts, paper, and many boxes and envelopes are all recycled. I do often buy 9x7 envelopes and 2x2 jewelry boxes for the jewelry I sell. Just quicker. I don't care if the item is $24 or $5000, it all goes the same way and in all these years I've never had a complaint. Actually, my reviews are full of people complimenting how well I packed. You got one petty person. Let her go from your mind and concentrate on all the people who didn't care or were grateful to have a smooth transition.

You need to blame the republicans for installing Dejoy as postmaster. He go rid of, and destroyed/disassmbled the sorting machines for the huge national distribution processing centers. They wanted to affect the mail in election ballots. Dejoy also came over from UPS or Fedex and continued to have investments in the companies. Also, decades ago the Govt made them pay in advance all the retirement funds for the future, cremating the funding for USPS> Purpose of PO was a service, NOT a for profit entity.
