There are some restaurants in the US that have adopted this practice, particularly ones that use Toast or Clover POS.

Downvoting for lack of necessary info needed for this to be an actual datapoint - name of the merchant (restaurant) - how did you actually use Paze in-person via a Clover POS terminal? - did doing so successfully initiate 10x+ points?

Is Homebase bugging out for anyone else? It's been working and not working all week. The basic Clover POS server checkout report only shows net sales, tips, auto-grat... so I used Homebase to show the food sales and bar sales for tipout purposes for the bartenders, bussers, food runners... but Homebase isn't getting the information or something because half the time the server's reports just says $0.00. Is there any way to show food sales, bar sales on the Clover POS checkout report itself?

That’s not entirely true. I actually owned my Clover POS Systems. I bought my POS outright… It was maybe $1600 at the time. I didn’t want to have to sign any contracts, or be in any type of “commitment“, So for me, it just made sense to buy the equipment outright instead of “leasing“ from them, or getting it for “free” with a multi year contract.

Hey everybody. I currently have a Clover POS, and a representative from toast came in today wanting to set up a meeting to go over the benefits of switching from toast to Clover. Was curious if anyone in here has toast POS for their quick service restaurant and how it’s working out for them. Currently, Clover POS does what I need, but was curious to see what those who currently used it for QSR have to say. Would definitely like to hear from anyone who has switched from Clover to toast. Thanks in advance

I've seen different information across the web showing that Klarna and Clover have partnered back in April 2025 to bring Klarna to our Clover POS systems. I have had customers ask me about when this is going to happen. Does anyone know when this will take place? We would love to be able to implement this payment ability for our customers.

Just consider this a review on the Clover POS systems. They are unreliable and Ive never had more issues with any sort of POS or frankly any computer related device in general. Its so buggy and crashes for no good reason constantly. I shouldn't have to constantly walk people through tech support over a device thats only ringing up 5-100 things a day.

Appreciate the info. I can’t even get through developer account setup to publish an app. How long did that take you? If you’re trying to publish apps for yourself privately are those at all easier and how long do those take to publish? Is there a way to publish apps using the sandbox developer account to one’s own Clover POS without being approved to publish in the public facing Clover App Marketplace?

I’m looking to see if there is anyone here who has experience moving from Toast to Clover POS. How much work was it to get the export from Toast to the import file for Clover? Were the modifiers able to be mapped? Any insight or tips would be appreciated.
comment r/CloverPOS u/SeaFlamingo4580 2026-04-27
1) transfer over from where. If you can explain this, I can walk you through how to import it to clover POs 2) that is base on your dealer, you sign up with a crappy company Most of your complaint is regarding the company that sold it to you, not clover itself.

Check out Clover POS. I have that for my largest restaurant that does over $5 mil a year and no problems really. Nowhere near the backend functions like Lightspeed or Toast, but it's doable and usable. Clover probably has a superior pay by weight system tho since Clover started out as a retail POS. Clover is sold through POS processors, so find a local one by you that carries Clover. Honestly you'll probably save a shit ton on processing fees as well and it's always good to have the card processor near by you in case an issue comes up and you can have someone from the card processing company come within an hour. Also, do you mind me asking what kind of concept you have? Do you happen to have one of those pay by weight hotpot places? Those are super hot right now and am thinking of opening one lol.

Hello I am working on building a dashboard for Clover POS data with full AI and chat capabilities. In the dashboard you would be able to view store by store data, ask questions like 'What was the top selling item for Store A for the months of February?' 'Can you show me the top 10 items by gross revenue for Store A versus Store B?'. I am looking for Clover users who would be interested in trying it out. Thanks! I have included a small demo. I am also looking for people that would want to connect other data like from Vendors, etc to their clover data. Hi everyone, I am an app developer and have been making apps for Clover POS for the past 4 years. I have been working for a software company that then sell these apps to merchants. I have recently decided to make my own apps for Clover POS and release it to the app market. I have had different app ideas but I thought it will be best to ask the users first. What sort of app on Clover POS would help you with your business? Or what features do you think Clover is missing or can improve? And lastly what kind of AI app can help you with your POS? Any ideas and suggestions are really appreciated.

Millions of people use Clover and enjoy Clover. You only hear about the bad reviews. I have been working with Clover POS for years and I can tell you it’s a great fit for many many businesses. Especially cafés. Most of the bad reviews relate to the specific merchant services provider and not the Clover software platform itself. People don’t know how to separate those two things.

I've been part of the industry for over 20 years. Anyone suggesting that remaining processor agnostic is bad advice is trying to sell you on something like Toast or Clover POS, which makes it harder to switch because you have to replace all of your hardware to do so.

We're a SNAP authorized retailer and fairly new to Clover. We're experiencing an issue that I haven't seen discussed here, afaik. We've made many attempts to get this resolved by Clover and/or CardConnect but both are saying it's the other's problem. We're using 2 Clover Station Duos with Host Merchant Services as our support provider and CardConnect as the payment processor. **Problem:** If a customer doesn't tell us they're paying with a SNAP/EBT card, and our cashier assumes they're holding a standard credit/debit card, we are potentially selling SNAP-ineligible merchandise to customers. **Here's how it happens:** 1. Cashier selects **Credit/Debit** as the tender. (We don't know what kind of card they're using, just assume it's a Visa, MC, etc.) 2. Customer is *actually* using an EBT card and swipes their EBT card and enters PIN.  3. Assuming adequate balance, the payment is approved. Note that the tender is incorrect (Credit/Debit vs. EBT) and that the customer was not prompted to choose what type of benefits they're using (Food vs. Cash). Our cashier has no idea this was an EBT payment. From their vantage point, it looked like a debit card transaction. The only indication is that the card was swiped. Otherwise, it's invisible to us. The problem is that our cashier had no chance to separate eligible and ineligible items. In this scenario, where the customer hasn't declared their card as EBT, the system *should* work as follows: 1. Cashier selects **Credit/Debit** as the tender.  2. Customer swipes their EBT card and enters the PIN.  3. Clover or Card Connect recognizes a discrepancy. Tender is Credit/Debit but the card is EBT. 4. Decline the payment and require the transaction be processed again using the correct tender, EBT. This gives our cashier a chance to discover that the guest is using an EBT card and do the necessary separation of eligible products. **Videos** I created two videos to illustrate the issue. * If we **don't** know a customer is using EBT, the transaction looks like this: [video](https://www.canva.com/design/DAHFE-G2REI/5KqAglIMkQlzD7gK10st8w/watch?utm_content=DAHFE-G2REI&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=haa755b0a3b) * If we know a customer is using EBT, the transaction should look like this: [video](https://www.canva.com/design/DAHFEvKT6zw/8YxzMUEA1AFasvL0YIVJXg/watch?utm_content=DAHFEvKT6zw&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=ha924e12715) **We've tried:** 1. Had Host Merchant Services file multiple tickets with Clover (POS) and CardConnect (Processor) to no avail. 2. Signs to make sure customers know they need to tell us if they're using EBT, but that's not foolproof and not ideal (don't want customers using EBT to feel othered). 3. Stopping EBT payments at the Cafe register since most items there are ineligible. I turned off "PIN debit" at the Cafe register, thinking that turning off PIN prompts would disallow EBT payments, but the PIN still pops up for EBT cards there. My current solution is a piece of electrical tape blocking the swipe port. 4. Asking our staff to look out for customers swiping their card since that's a good indicator they used an EBT card. However, our state is transitioning to chip/TTP EBT cards next month, so this isn't a great solution either. **Business Context:** We are a small market with both a grocery register and a Cafe register. We switched from our old POS to Clover to take advantage of the restaurant features for our Cafe register (modifiers, customizations, etc.). Our old POS was better with EBT but lacked any sort of restaurant features. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t know what systems you use, but I worked part time at a restaurant. They use the clover POS System I was register and every time a customer paid with card/Apple Pay once they pay it shows on the screen on my end what the customer Tipped. Now I don’t get offended if people don’t tip, to me it doesn’t matter if you give me buck or two. I was hourly and made a good money tips were only a cherry on top. Whenever someone comes in and sometimes just look at the tip buttons I just tell them, “hit the skip button” or I by pass the tip option manually. I don’t want to force anyone to pay more than the advertised price, if it were up to me, I’d gotten rid of the tip option on all the POS systems.

Hi, I have a restaurant and we recently implemented Clover POS. First, do you know of an app that could handle coursing more quickly? We often have large groups, and having to select the coursing for each item takes a bit too long. Ideally, we would like to have a button directly in Clover Dining called something like “Course 1” so the kitchen knows the order in which to prepare the dishes. The best-case scenario would be for it to appear in red, like modifiers do. That brings me to my second question: is it possible to add modifiers as items so they appear in the POS menu, while still printing in red on the kitchen printer like modifiers? Thank you for your help.

I know there are some Clover PoS Developers here so just sharing my experience of building Apple Pay on my existing e-commerce platform. This has been an extremely difficult task and I am sure many others have tried it. So I just wanted to share it actually works and since launch of the service about 40% of payments processed through our platform is going through Apple Pay. Clover suggests two way of integration - either using Merchant ID or through App ID. I have implemented using App ID. I could never get it to work on Sandbox and wasted weeks trying to resolve it. Finally just tried it on production and it worked! Has anyone been able to get it to work on Sandbox?

I consider myself pretty savvy around business do when I launched my 2nd business I wanted to try one of the clover POS systems. It looked attracted at first with low fees etc. But Clover does not explain the contract you enter. Once you sign - you are locked in a contract good at least 2 years. If you try to cancel your subscription, they force you to pay thousands of dollars to buy out the lease. Even if you go out of business - they don’t care. If you’re a start up or small business and unsure about the longevity of your business. Stay away. I could see this being a great asset for established businesses but not startups. Buyer beware!

You walk into any full service restaurant and they’re using Clover POS, probably don’t want to eat there

I went in person because I also picked up some bakery items, and I wanted to confirm whether there is a tip screen at the counter. They use Clover POS with no tip screen.

I built an AI that can answer questions just like this so you don't need to wait on hold or come to reddit as much. I gave it your question verbatim with not additional context or instructions. If you or anyone here at r/CLoverPOS find tool like this valuable to make your life as a merchant easier send me a DM. this is your response (unedited) Begin Output: Clover does not natively hold and release timed orders to KDS the way some restaurant systems do. You’re not wrong. Out of the box, KDS fires tickets when the order is sent, not based on a future “make at” time unless the order originated through an online ordering flow that supports scheduled prep logic. So you have three real paths: 1. Clover Online Ordering (native) If the order is placed through Clover’s Online Ordering with a scheduled pickup time, that flow can manage future orders properly. That’s the cleanest native path. 2. Third party online ordering Many third-party platforms handle timed orders on their side and only inject the order into Clover when it hits the defined prep window. In that case, Clover just behaves normally because it receives the order at the right time. 3. Workflow workaround (manual discipline) If the order is taken at the register for a future time: – Add a clear note with pickup time – Do NOT fire to kitchen immediately – Hold the ticket and send it manually closer to prep time This is operational discipline, not a system automation. It works, but it depends on staff behavior. What Clover does not do well: There is no native “hold until X time then auto-fire to KDS” feature for register-entered orders without using an online ordering logic layer. If someone says there is, they’re likely confusing it with online ordering scheduling. If you need heavy timed-order logic, you either: – Lean into Clover Online Ordering – Use a third party that controls injection timing – Or evaluate whether your volume requires a more restaurant-specific POS design That’s the honest answer.
