He's also working on the new exodus 2 game as a writer. So that's worth checking out for sure.

There are 2 games coming out in the future that might capture the unique feeling of Mass Effect series brought to gaming. ***The Expanse: Osiris Reborn*** [According](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Expanse:_Osiris_Reborn) to the developers, the main source of inspiration for them was the Mass Effect game series. ***Exodus 2*** [Being](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exodus 2_(2027_video_game)) developed by Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by former BioWare developers James Ohlen, Chad Robertson, and Drew Karpyshyn. And I eagerly await what these games to see if it will capture the emotional storytelling, companion interactions and comradery, the gameplay and most of all the journey through the world of the gaming universe were exploring.

Greetings, Travelers! We’re excited to share more gameplay. This week’s work-in-progress clip takes you deep within Ghost City, buried Celestial ruins stretching miles below the world above. Down here, tension builds fast. And when things escalate, they escalate quickly. **If you haven’t already,** [**add Exodus 2 to your Wishlist**](https://exodus 2.game/nnw)**.** # WHAT YOU’RE SEEING: As Jun Aslan, you’re investigating Ghost City, located miles beneath Lidon’s surface, helping Elise search for a mercenary ally. She’s with you, and Salt the Octopus is never far behind. Early on, you’ll deploy a Waystation, a lightweight gadget that lets you resupply and acquire upgrades while deep in hostile territory. Elise leads the push, using her mech to smash through a livestone wall. The impact draws attention fast as enemies converge on your position. Moments later, Elise fires a Knockdown Missile while Salt lofts Ink Mortar to disrupt those holding higher ground. Jun’s gauntlet ability, Eruption, is used in multiple ways. In combat, it launches enemies into the air. For traversal, you’ll shape livestone to form a bridge when you need to close in on targets. Your loadout adapts with you. The Recycler shifts between Repeater mode for steady mid-range pressure and Shredder mode for high-impact close-quarters damage. And as you push forward, your gauntlet forms a livestone glove and delivers melee strikes up close. Missed our earlier clips? **Check out the full playlist** [**here**](https://exodus 2.game/gameplay). Stay tuned for more clips as we build toward the Extended Gameplay Reveal this summer. ⠀ **Share your thoughts with us here in the comments!** We *are* listening.

Whether you've been with us since the first signal, or you're just finding your way into the cluster, we're glad you made it. Your questions, your curiosity, and your feedback are part of what keeps us inspired. This transmission has a few exciting new discoveries. The big one: **your first look at conversation choices in Exodus 2**—the conversations that shape your journey as Jun Aslan and how your story unfolds. We’re also excited to announce a limited-time offer for those following the expanded universe: **pre-order** ***Exodus 2: The Helium Sea*** **by June 15****^(th)** **and get a signed bookplate** **by the author Peter F. Hamilton** (while supplies last).  Finally, for those of you looking to bring the Exodus 2 universe to the tabletop, **more copies of our TTRPG books are now available for pre-order.**  If you haven’t already, **add Exodus 2 to your Wishlist** [**HERE**](https://exodus 2.game/nnw). Let’s dive in! # >> FIRST LOOK: CONVERSATION CHOICES IN Exodus 2 https://preview.redd.it/sz890jvfwbyg1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=785374218072a1ce418df766f41ac0f96c66c9f7 Since March, we’ve been dropping work-in-progress gameplay. You’ve seen Jun fighting, exploring, and traversing through various locations in Centauri. Today, we’re showing you something more personal: **a quieter, in-the-moment conversation with Phaedra, one of your combat companions, while you’re out on a mission together.** Dialogue in Exodus 2 unfolds in different ways. There are high-stakes cinematic moments and pivotal story conversations. And then there are smaller, more intimate exchanges like this one where a companion starts to open up. This is one of many moments between the action where you shape who Jun becomes for you. You’ll see dialogue play out and options branch in real time. You’ll watch how your words land and get a sense of how relationships develop when you’re both trying to figure it out. From salvager to humanity’s last hope? That transformation happens one conversation at a time. Here’s one of them. https://preview.redd.it/2iev6l4kwbyg1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=113896bf098e748e77ff1ef0e1beefa56dc3b5b2 ▶️ WATCH: [**https://youtu.be/21Ye3SVxfAg**](https://youtu.be/21Ye3SVxfAg)   # >> WHAT YOU’RE SEEING: JUN AND PHAEDRA As Jun Aslan, you’re deep in a corroding Celestial facility with Phaedra, hunting for Remnants. She’s been infected by a Celestial virus that left her blind. But Phaedra’s not completely helpless. Her drone feeds her environmental data like volume, shapes, and mass. And strangely, the virus unlocked something unexpected: she can now interface with Celestial glyphs. It’s a growing power that neither of you fully understands yet. Phaedra is opening up about what she's going through. How you respond to her vulnerability, her emerging abilities, and the trust she's placing in you—it all impacts where your relationship goes from here. Some responses acknowledge what she’s lost. Others focus on what she’s becoming.  You’re navigating this together and figuring it out as you go. We have more gameplay to share. This time, home. **This week’s work-in-progress clip takes you to Persepolis**, the sprawling city on Lidon’s hot pole that Jun Aslan calls home. From above the cityscape, you take in the sheer scale of what humanity has built… and what you’re fighting to protect.  If you haven’t already, [**add Exodus 2 to your Wishlist**](https://exodus 2.game/nnw)**.** Many of you are eager to explore the worlds of Exodus 2™. Here’s a glimpse into one of Lidon’s most vibrant cities. **WHAT YOU’RE SEEING:** As Jun Aslan, you’re stepping onto a balcony above Persepolis. The city below is dense and layered with centuries of human ambition, survival, and adaptation built atop ancient Celestial ruins.  Dominating the sky is Galarus, the gas giant that Lidon orbits. It fills the horizon, casting its presence across the moon below. In the distance, the Oupávia Space Tower rises, towering but damaged. It stands as a monument to what the Celestials once created and what time has slowly reclaimed. Using your Precognition ability, you scan landmarks across the cityscape, uncovering the stories behind the structures and the history written into its skyline. Some of it stands proud. Some of it is scarred. All of it shapes who you are and what you’re fighting for. Missed our earlier clips? [**Check out the full playlist here**](https://exodus 2.game/gameplay). I mean, I have no issue with this and that Exodus 2 game being 'Mass Effect-like games' because no one has really bothered to do something similar at all. I'm down for this because there's not really a lot of squad based Western ARPGs outside of what Bioware and Obsidian make. End of the day if the game is good no one will care that it is taking a lot of inspiration from Mass Effect or if it has a bit of jank to it.

We’ve got more gameplay to show you. This time, our work-in-progress clip focuses on **stealth in a heavily guarded Celestial chamber**. Staying undetected puts you in control, letting you move through danger on your own terms.  [***Go Wishlist Exodus 2***](https://exodus 2.game/nnw) ***if you haven’t already***. Many of you have been asking to see more combat. Here’s how stealth gives you the advantage in hostile territory. **WHAT YOU’RE SEEING:** As Jun Aslan, you’re infiltrating a heavily patrolled Celestial chamber with companions Tom and Suliman, sneaking past invading Zealot forces. Detection means reinforcements you don’t want to deal with.  Before moving deeper, you'll use Precognition, scanning the environment to mark enemy positions. Information first. Knowing where they are before they know you exist. As you advance, you’ll spot tripwire mines the Zealot soldiers have set up. One wrong step, and the alarm screams. Disarm them as you go and keep moving. You’ll see gauntlet takedowns up close. Quick and decisive strikes that eliminate threats without giving you away. Sometimes, stealth means getting personal.  You’ll also use your Recycler in the Spectre configuration, a single-shot stealth mode for efficient eliminations. Line up the shot and make it count. Yea they are incredible! It’s never too late. Honestly nothing like it. And it’s been long enough since I played them last. So they are almost refreshing, and feel new in a way.makes me excited for next year. The Expanse and Exodus 2 games.

Keep an eye out for Exodus 2 game launching early next year. There's gameplay video demos, and it looks like the spiritual successor to Mass Effect. KOTOR and ME2 are my favorites, and this is my current most anticipated.

All the ones I know have been mentioned. I can’t wait for the Exodus 2 game. It’s by a lot of the old mass effect team. Plus universe written by Peter F Hamilton - who has also written a 2 part novel (2nd book releases soon) set after the game. The first book was amazing. It’s my most anticipated game

Our gameplay series continues. This week, our work-in-progress clip focuses on traversal through molten depths, where ancient Celestial ruins meet flowing fire. Scorching geysers, magma waterfalls, and boiling rivers. Down here, staying alive is the mission. [**WISHLIST Exodus 2 NOW**](https://exodus 2.game/nnw) if you haven’t already. Your feedback continues to shape what we show. Here’s a look at how traversal through extreme conditions is coming together. # WHAT YOU’RE SEEING: As Jun Aslan, you’re descending through ancient Celestial ruins deep in the Foundations. Miles beneath Lidon's surface, here everything burns. Companions Tom and Salt the Octopus navigate this inferno with you in what might be the most hostile terrain you’ve faced yet. You'll use the Eruption gauntlet ability to clear livestone debris blocking your path. But you’re also shaping livestone itself, forming bridges and redirecting magma flow. The environment demands problem-solving, not just firepower. Near the end, the railclaw keeps you above the heat. When the ground wants you dead, verticality becomes survival. We’ve got another work-in-progress gameplay clip for you. This one teases **a distant frozen world,** one of many worlds you’ll explore in the hunt for Celestial Remnants that might save humanity. Be sure to [**add Exodus 2 to your Wishlist**](https://exodus 2.game/nnw) if you haven’t already. We appreciate all the feedback we’ve received so far. A lot of you wanted to see more of the worlds themselves, so here’s a look at how exploration is coming together. # WHAT YOU’RE SEEING: As Jun Aslan, you’re exploring an ancient world frozen in time, with Salt the Octopus and Elise at your side. You move through cave-like passages carved from crystal formations and then emerge onto a vast vista overlooking icy monuments that have stood here for millennia. The architecture is unmistakably alien. Certainly not built with humans in mind. The scale is massive. Because these enemies are swarm enemies, remnants. All of this has been laid out and explained. There is also a technological rot inherent in ALL celestial tech that is disrupting the functionality. This is also laid out in the lore. Maybe the AI of enemies that haven't been idle for 5000 years will be better at killing you. We're excited to share more work-in-progress gameplay. This time, **a new combat encounter inside Khonsu**, a Celestial-built defense platform orbiting your homeworld. # Make sure to [go wishlist Exodus 2](https://exodus 2.game/nnw) if you haven’t already. Here we’re focusing on close-range combat, with squad coordination under pressure, and a look at some of the abilities and weapon modes you’ll have access to. It’s been great reading your responses to the first clips we shared last week and what you’re curious about. Many of you asked to see more combat, so here’s how encounters like this are shaping up.  **WHAT YOU’RE SEEING:** As Jun Aslan, you’re pushing through Khonsu’s interior corridors with Tom and Elise. The Ghosts you see deploying are ancient Celestial automated defenses, dormant in pods until the platform detects intruders. The kind of security system that doesn’t ask questions before opening fire. Your go-to weapon is the Recycler, and you’ll see a couple of its modes in action. Repeater mode for ranged encounters and Shredder mode when enemies close the gap. You can easily swap between them on the fly. When “go away” needs emphasis, you turn to your gauntlet ability called the Lance, which hurls livestone javelins for heavy damage.  If you missed past clips, [**check out the playlist here**](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPScoqLWP0xy7u1cpulWu336juVb_RuxW). The first drop of many as we build toward an Extended Gameplay Reveal this summer**. If you haven’t wishlisted Exodus 2 yet, [**lock it in here**](https://exodus 2.game/7co). If you’re new here, humanity’s been out in the Centauri Cluster for forty thousand years. Far enough from Earth that there’s no going back (not that we could even if we wanted to). What we’ve built since then? Cities stacked on ruins. Wreckage from wars no one remembers starting.  Worlds we bullied into being livable. Home sweet home. You’re Jun Aslan. Salvager turned Traveler. It sounds cooler than it is until you become humanity's last line against the Celestials. You’ll thread through danger, hunt for alien tech, and hopefully rescue humanity from extinction. Standard stuff. All of that across places like Khonsu’s orbital shrines and the space towers of Lyonesse on Lidon. **Here’s a glimpse of what playing Exodus 2 looks like**. https://preview.redd.it/vehx15f9ntpg1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=006308ce8b7a182de20f81e2517666c8ca13ce19 ▶️ **Watch:** [**https://youtu.be/vZ3pQzb23JM**](https://youtu.be/vZ3pQzb23JM) # >>WHAT YOU’RE SEEING: FOOTAGE BREAKDOWN **Clip #1** We’re starting early, with Jun alongside Tom and Elise in a live combat encounter on the outskirts of Lyonesse. This is the kind of fight where positioning matters and relying on your companions can mean the difference between survival and being part of the wreckage. When Elise lets loose with her missile barrage, you feel it. Early on, nothing comes easy. You hold the line because your squad holds it with you. https://preview.redd.it/wtycq20cntpg1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39f46f4bac7ce67470f2ac1bf96c98913c367022 **Clip #2** In the next clip, we’re up on a space tower in Lyonesse. Things slow down a bit here to show what a mission can feel like between combat. Traversal in Exodus 2 has its own rhythm. You can move quickly, but sometimes it’s worth pausing and taking in the scale of the world around you. Once you get comfortable with the railclaw, what might look like an obstacle becomes part of how you move through the world. It is a core piece of a Traveler’s toolkit, letting you traverse hostile terrain and, at times, gain a better vantage point when things escalate. https://preview.redd.it/vv04cmdentpg1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67751e384b9267788c37aa9e9fa20df4148dc619 **Clip #3** Further ahead, you step into an ancient shrine on Khonsu. Towering architecture rises overhead, unmistakably Celestial in its design. The space opens around you, drawing your pace down as you take it in. What waits inside is yours to discover… https://preview.redd.it/livm78xfntpg1.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7d3a9d8d819bda0de2c06e4988e00dc8cc0211f # <<SIGNAL RECEIVED In our last Community Update, we asked what you wanted to see from Exodus 2 in 2026. **The signal came back clear: gameplay**. Not just quick-cut trailers or cinematics, but uninterrupted footage that shows what it looks like to play: combat encounters, choices, and how a mission actually unfolds with someone at the controls. for English speaking readers, i recommend Exodus 2 - The Archimedes Engine book by Peter F. Hamilton. The first book was already a banger imo, the 2nd one is coming out in June i think. The books story loosely ties into the Exodus 2 game being developed by ex-mass effect writers and developers rn. So thats another thing to look out for. If you're not strictly bound to sci-fi, you can give the dragon age series a try, since it was made by the same team and especially DA:Origins has been highly rated and loved by fans. As for other sci-fi games i'm not sure tbh. not a single game has scratched the same itch for me since mass effect. there were some decent to well made games, like the Horizon games, but nothing full on space opera scifi like mass effect. Warhammer might be an option maybe even Helldivers or Titanfall, but thats all i can give you.

Mass effect 5 I have 0 hope for after seeing the slop bioware has put out for the past 6-7 years. The exodus 2 game looks really sketchy to me as to how they've been showing the same stuff over and over again for an year now, not to mention that one of the senior executives in the company left a couple months ago. A person in top management leaving mid development of the first game of a new studio doesn't really fill me with confidence. Osiris looks decent tho

After spamming this subreddit with various threads, there's hype versus anti-hype! What are the fanboys and fangirls saying? Honestly, the overall mood in the air isn't bad. Without overdoing the comparison, [ME's take was far, far worse](https://www.reddit.com/r/bioware/comments/1r0i2tw/determining_hype_level_for_the_next_mass_effect/). But that's a subject for a different subreddit. So: * People really like the [novel series](https://www.exodus 2game.com/en-US/expanded-universe#novels) (I liked the first book myself), though some people think it's a distraction from the game * People view the series as a spiritual successor of Mass Effect, since ME's developer has successfully drowned itself in doomerism [arguably since DA2 ](https://youtu.be/2lT_Wx_e-zU?t=92) * Some people note the time frame, thinking the [game is too far away](https://www.exodus 2game.com/en-US/news/watch-the-rise-of-jun-aslan-trailer-our-journey-to-early-2027) to be excited about * Others aren't sure if Exodus 2 will compare favorably to other games, whether those games are perceived as 'bad' (such as ME:A) or 'good' (such as BG3). There's some desire for a longer form gameplay video * Some are nervous about the [leadership shakeup at Archetype](https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/less-than-a-week-after-dropping-a-big-new-trailer-at-the-game-awards-exodus 2-studio-head-james-ohlen-has-stepped-down-because-he-felt-his-work-on-the-game-was-complete/) * Some are worried Exodus 2 will get swallowed by [Grand Theft Auto VI](https://www.ign.com/articles/gta-6-has-been-delayed-again-how-does-this-impact-the-rest-of-the-industry)'s hype train Any hot takes on what people are thinking?
