Hey OP. I tried the MetaMask card recently, and found the user experience quite nice, but I was a bit frustrated with the fact that the conversion rate from USDC to euros was around 1% higher than it should. Do you use the card to pay in USD? Is the conversion 1 to 1? I wish there would be more options to use EUR stable coins.

MetaMask Card is fully self-custody if that’s important to you. Hooked directly up to your wallet. You can earn yield on Aave then spend right away without going through an exchange. Good off-ramp.

metamask card is prob the only other one close rn where funds stay in your wallet till you pay, most others still fake it a bit or add some custody step

The three step cycle you described (exchange, convert, wait for ACH) is the problem most stablecoin products still have not solved. You are basically using a checking account with extra steps. The ones that cut this down to one transaction are cards that pull directly from a self custodied wallet at the point of sale.
Gnosis Pay and MetaMask Card do this. No preloading, no intermediate balance. The spend triggers a swap and settlement in one step. If your use case is mostly daily spending rather than yield farming, that architecture matters more than the APY on your stablecoins.

Gnosis Pay and MetaMask Card are the only two where you actually export your own keys and funds stay on chain until the moment of spend. Holyheld is close but you are trusting their swap infrastructure at the point of transaction.
The real test is: if the company behind the card disappears tomorrow, can you still access your funds with just your seed phrase? If the answer is no, it is not self custodial. It is a custodial product with better branding. For daily spending, Gnosis works because the Safe contract authorizes the spend in real time. No preloaded balance, no vault you do not control.

Use stables to take profit and hodl it till prices drop so you can buy ETH or whatever at lower prices, and while you wait till prices drop you can earn yield on it so you can buy more.
And if you wanna spend it, use crypto cards like Gnosis Pay, MetaMask Card or Ether.Fi cash.
What do you mean crypto cards? Like the meta mask card or the Coinbase one? I don’t see those listed.

Stablecoins kept reaching into new currencies and corridors. Transfero opened its BRZ bridge, bringing more Brazilian real onchain. Xelio launched in Nigeria, where people now send stablecoins over text and WhatsApp. SurfCash went live in Peru with USDC at local merchants. And Singapore Gulf Bank turned on 1:1 USD-to-USDC conversion with zero fees for its customers. The numbers kept pace: Solana overtook Ethereum again for adjusted USD stablecoin volume, and salary-sized P2P transfers ($1K-$20K) hit [$971M](https://x.com/search?q=%24971M&src=cashtag_click) in a single week.
Plus Ramp added support for Tether on Solana. Embedding USDT with fee-free USD conversion means corporate finance & US businesses can now hold, send, and spend stablecoins as easily as dollars across their entire finance stack.

I have been using my Metamask Card for some time already, although there were issues at first, they were all fixable (Such as paypal initially not working, but I was able to fix the address along with support, and now it works fine).
My usage is also withing the limits, I'm far from being able to even reach the limits of $10K (per day) in multiple months, much less a single day.
I paid a smaller purchase, and when I went to pay another, it was refusing, in the same store I have purchased multiple times, the card was being declined.
I went to check if they requests at least appeared on the transactions, and they were all there, went to check the details, and it says:
**Lifetime Transactions - You have reached your account limits, please upgrade your Account level**
I had no idea there were Lifetime limits, nor do I know any "Account level" option (I know there is a Metal option, since it seems it has different limits).
Does it mean it doesn't work anymore?

u/kantalo full transparency - I cashed out some of kiddo's [stupidgames.wtf](http://stupidgames.wtf) chips to fund a non-custodial wallet for him. I setup a metamask card on his phone, so now he has a tap-to-pay method. I think seeing his on-chain activity translate into semi-permissionless financial freedom (still had to kyc for him) is a great learning opportunity. Giving him a non-custodial "modern" prepaid debit card, lets him interact on-chain and opens the door to slowly dab a toe into the deep end of the pool while still granting me the ability to introspect into his spending while he is still a minor, etc.
Thanks, this has been a great opportunity to educate and empower him outside of what tradfi will allow. I think it is going to motivate him to grind some more on the current leaderboard too ;)

How about metamask card, been using or for months without issues.

Over the past few months I've been maintaining a database of every crypto debit/credit card I could find — 139 of them now, from major exchanges to obscure neobank wrappers. I kept running into the same problem: every card advertises "0% FX fees" on its landing page, but the actual cost of spending abroad is wildly different.
So I went through the fee disclosure docs of all 139 and tried to extract the real, total cost of a foreign transaction. Here's what I found.
**TL;DR**
* Median FX fee across 139 cards: **1.00%**
* Average: **1.18%**
* Range: **0% to 8%**
* 30 cards advertise "0% FX" but **17 of those bury a conversion/spread/stabilization fee** somewhere else
* Cheapest cards with no hidden markup: Kraken, MetaMask, Bitpanda, BitPay, Gemini, Deblock
* Worst offenders: Kemy (8%), MaxSwap (5%), SolCard Mastercard tier (5% top-up + 2% FX)
**The "0% FX" trap — the thing nobody talks about**
The dirty trick is that "FX fee" is only one line item. Issuers route the cost through other names:
|Card|Advertised|Actual cost per foreign transaction|
|:-|:-|:-|
|Gnosis Pay / Rebind / Zeal|"0% FX"|\~1.5% stabilization fee on every tx|
|1inch Card|"0% FX"|2% "card spend fee" per purchase|
|[Crypto.com](http://Crypto.com) Visa|"0% FX markup"|\~0.5% conversion spread on crypto → fiat|
|Wayex|"0% FX"|1% crypto-to-AUD on every purchase/ATM|
|Bitrefill|"0% on EUR"|1.99% conversion if you fund with crypto|
|Avici|"0% Avici fee"|Visa's 0.4-1% cross-border fee still applies|
|Wirex|"0% FX all tiers"|Spread on crypto-to-fiat conversion|
|Bybit|"0.5% in EEA"|**7% in Argentina**, 2% APAC, 1.5% Brazil|
That last one is important — Bybit's "0.5%" headline only applies to EEA / Switzerland / Mexico. If you live in Argentina, you pay 7%. Same card, same issuer, 14x the fee based on your passport. The landing page doesn't tell you this.
**Cards that actually charge \~0% (as far as I can verify)**
These have no hidden spread, no "conversion" euphemism, no regional gotcha I could find:
1. **Kraken Card** — 0% FX, 0% annual. Only cost is the crypto conversion spread at checkout, which is visible before you tap.
2. **MetaMask Card** — 0% foreign, Mastercard standard rates only.
3. **Bitpanda Card** — 0% markup, pure Visa network rates.
4. **Gemini Credit Card** — 0% foreign (2.49% only applies to crypto purchases on the card, not fiat transactions).
5. **Deblock Card** — 0% advertised, no bank charge, instant exchange built-in.
6. **BitPay Card** — 0% foreign, standard Mastercard conversion.
7. **Pyra Card** — genuinely zero on everything (no spend/top-up/signup/liquidation fees).
**Methodology caveats before you crucify me**
* I parsed the **first numeric FX figure** from each card's disclosed fee text. Some cards have tiered pricing (Wise: 0.33-3.5% depending on currency) and I took the low end. So my median is probably **optimistic**.
* 30 of the 139 cards either don't disclose FX clearly or use the word "spread" without a number. I excluded those from the averages.
* Bitpanda, Kraken etc. still pay the **network** (Visa/Mastercard) cross-border fee of \~0.4-1%. They just don't add their own markup on top. When I say "0%" I mean "no issuer markup".
* Fees change. This snapshot is April 2026.
**What surprised me most**
It wasn't the 8% card (Kemy is small, you'd expect it). It was **Bybit** — a top-5 exchange — charging 14x more in Argentina than in the EU for the same product. And **Gnosis Pay** (and its white-label wrappers Rebind/Zeal/Picnic) marketing "0% FX" while taking 1.5% on every transaction under the name "stabilization fee". That's the same fee by a different name.
The "best crypto card" depends entirely on where you live and whether you read the fee disclosure, not the landing page. The rankings in most "top 10 crypto cards" articles rank by **cashback** and ignore FX entirely, which is backwards for anyone who actually spends abroad.

Živjo, a kdo uporablja MetaMask kartico pri nas? Zanimajo me predvsem izkušnje s stroški (feeji) in kako zadeva deluje v praksi pri nas (trgovine, bencinske...). Je kakšen poseben "catch" glede FURS-a? Hvala!
No no .. not the crypto transfer thing... I mean crypto to fiat payments at stores/shops ..... U shop... scan qr...and instant crypto to fiat payments.... Like we have reddotpay, metamask cards as debit card equivalents...
I use metamask card (mastercard) and gnosispay(visa)
Other than RedotPay, which crypto card can I use in HK? I know [crypto.com](http://crypto.com) works, how about metamask card and gnosis card?
You could get a Metamask card and buy on Opensea using that
We're working hard to bring the card to more users. In the meantime, follow this link to join the waitlist [https://portfolio.metamask.io/card](https://portfolio.metamask.io/card)

The **MetaMask Card** is now available, with global expansion planned.
The card works at over 150 million merchants worldwide, supports Apple Pay and Google Pay, and is fully self-custodial — meaning your funds remain in your wallet and are only deducted at the moment of payment.
This could be a significant step toward real-world crypto adoption.

Consensys and Mastercard have officially launched the MetaMask Card for general availability across the entire United States — including New York for the first time — marking the most significant mainstream bridge between self‑custodial crypto wallets and everyday spending to date. The card is accepted at 150 million+ Mastercard merchants worldwide via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or physical card, and is issued by Cross River Bank with compliance infrastructure powered by Baanx (now Monavate), meeting full U.S. financial regulations including KYC/AML checks.
What separates MetaMask Card from traditional crypto debit cards is its full self‑custody model: unlike custodial alternatives that require pre‑loading funds onto an exchange, users' assets stay in their MetaMask wallet until the exact moment of purchase, converting to fiat only at checkout. The rewards structure is also entirely on‑chain: standard cardholders earn up to 1% back in mUSD on every purchase, while subscribers to the new MetaMask Metal Card ($199/year) earn up to 3% back on the first $10,000 spent annually, plus the ability to earn yield on unspent balances through DeFi integrations like Aave's aUSDC — turning an idle wallet into a passive income source.
The launch also introduces the premium MetaMask Metal Card — a physical metal card with Mastercard ID Theft Protection™, Zero Liability, Price Protection, and contactless payments — all accessible near‑instantly upon approval through Mastercard Digital First technology that lets new cardholders start spending before their physical card arrives. MetaMask Card is already live in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the EEA, Mexico, Switzerland, and the UK, and with the U.S. fully added, Product Lead Gal Eldar summed up the vision: "We designed MetaMask Card to make crypto disappear — not go away, but become so seamlessly woven into daily life that the line between onchain and offchain fades away entirely."
